Mach-X high-power rocketry at Machrihanish. Students design, build, and launch a rocket and CanSat — a satellite simulation that fits the volume and shape of a drinks can — with skills workshops supported by national space companies.

- 2023–20242nd place — combined categoryFrom 10–14 July, Peryton Space attended Mach-24. The team flew in the combined 1.5 & 3 km category with the high-power rocket developed over the 2023/2024 academic year, aiming for a 3 km apogee. First-time composite manufacturing with flax-based fins and integrated solar cells on the nosecone, plus an entire test rocket — another team first. CanSat and recovery systems recorded the flight: the rocket reached 2.5 km, our highest apogee to date.
- 2022–20231st place — Mach 23 1.5 km categoryCelebrating 9 months of dedicated efforts, Peryton Space proudly claimed the top spot in the Mach 23 1.5 km category. Our team executed a launch and recovery of our rocket, alongside the successful deployment and retrieval of our CanSat. The journey was nothing short of incredible, especially as we had the privilege of connecting with fellow student rocketry teams across the UK. Special appreciation goes out to GU Rocketry — despite our technical rivalry, your camaraderie added an extra layer of greatness to the competition. We’re already looking forward to the next year, hoping to meet and collaborate with all the fantastic teams once again.
